Discover
the brilliance of South Australian wines at Food&HotelVietnam2007
Ho Chi Minh City, 30 October
2007 – For the first time, visitors to
Food&HotelVietnam2007 (FHV2007) will witness at the
exhibition a South Australian group pavilion solely dedicated
to showcase a variety of quality South Australian wines
and produce.
Vietnam has agreed to reduce tariffs
on Australian wine imports in 2004 in line with tariff
reductions given to imports of wine and spirits from the
European Union. Since then, wine from Australia has increased
in popularity amongst local Vietnamese consumers, especially
as the Vietnamese economy continues to grow in size and
sophistication1.
The Australian wine industry marked a
double milestone end July this year when wine exports
passed $3 billion by value and 800 litres by volume for
the first time. The record figures followed growth of
eight percent in value and 10% in volume over the previous
12 months2.
South Australia, positioned in the centre
of the Australian continent, is the Australian wine industry’s
powerhouse State, producing most of the nation’s
wine. The South Australian wine produce is a brilliant
blend of accessibility and consistent quality. In addition
to being host to some of the world’s oldest vines,
South Australian also has a diversity of regions ranging
from the relatively warm climate of the Barossa Valley
through to the maritime precincts of the McLaren Vale,
Southern Fleurieu, Currency Creek and Langhorne Creek
regions on the Fleurieu Peninsula and across the cooler
Adelaide Hills regions to the warmer Riverland region
on the Murray River.
FHV2007 is more than ready to play a
key role in contributing to this budding growth by providing
a single platform for food retailers, suppliers, distributors
and manufacturers, institutional caterers, consultants
and management team of hospitality outlets, to source
for the latest high quality wine products, related services,
equipment and solutions.
The South Australian pavilion at Food&HotelVietnam2007
will feature the finest wines from the McLaren Vale, Adelaide
Hills, Riverland/Murraylands, Langhorne Creek and Barossa
Valley regions presented by the South Australian Brilliant
Blend.
“Vietnam has become an important
destination for many international businesses and is viewed
as full of potential for local wine companies to further
expand their businesses, and international wine companies
to penetrate into the local wine market,” said Mr
David Dean, President of the Australian-Viet Nam Chamber
of Commerce (SA) Inc.
“Food&HotelVietnam2007 is an
ideal platform to introduce our quality wine brands to
both the regional and local trade buyers. I look forward,
through our participation at the South Australian pavilion,
to cultivate a deeper awareness of the South Australian
wine brands and further strengthen our market position
in Vietnam’s hospitality and F&B industries,”
added Mr Dean.
“The participation of the South
Australian pavilion is not only testament to the efficacy
of Food&HotelVietnam in reaching out to the country’s
food and hospitality industries, it also signifies the
growing popularity of Australian wines with local consumers.
We hope, with a strong wine showcase at our show this
year, FHV2007 will be able to help hoteliers, restaurateurs
and retailers meet the market’s growing need for
higher quality and wider range of wines and spirits,”
said Ms. Ting Siew Mui, Singapore Exhibition Services’s
Project Director (Lifestyle Events) for FHV.
Held from 30 October to 1 November, FHV2007
is jointly organised by Singapore Exhibition Services
Pte Ltd (SES) and VCCI Exhibition Service (Vietchamexpo),
and is endorsed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade,
the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT)
and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
