Food & Hospitality Training Critical for Chinese Industry
SHANGHAI
– 14th September 2007 – Inbound tourists
forecast to exceed 200 million, hotel occupancy increased
by 22% in the first 6 months of 2007 to 84 million room nights,
200 new restaurants registered to open in Shanghai in 2007,
while supermarket store numbers are growing at a rate of 30%
per year, all factors creating an unprecedented demand for
qualified staff. “Professional training of staff is
critical to the industry’s future and will be a key
focus of the many events held alongside FHC CHINA 2007,”
says Brendan O’Connell Jennings, General Manager, China
International Exhibitions, the event organizers.
FHC
China 2007, the nation’s premier industry trade show
for food, wine and hospitality equipment will take place for
the 11 edition from 14-16 November 2007 at Shanghai New International
Expo Centre. This year’s event includes a record 800
companies from 35 countries and 22 Official National Regional
Pavilions.
Mr Jennings added, “All the competitions, workshops
and seminars held alongside FHC China 2007 offer participants
the opportunity to learn from industry experts. Thereby raising
expectations and standards in the industry generally. The
events can be summarized as follows:
Competitions
-9th
FHC International Culinary Arts Competition including
over 350 participating chefs competing in 15 categories.
Judging is by a panel of international renowned chefs
and awards will include the Best Young Chef and the
Best Overall Competition Chef.
-2nd China Pizza Championship including competition
and workshops on pizza creation.
-Ultimate Barista Challenge® , developing the art
of coffee. |

Workshops
-Chocolate workshops for making pralines and hollow figures
by Callebaut
-Gold Card Wine Days, opportunity to taste and lean about
wines from all over the world on 14th & 15th November
2007
-Spanish Kitchen, featuring National and regional cuisines
and a training kitchen.
-Italian Masters Kitchen, learn and sample the best of Italian
Cuisine organised by DeCecco Pasta.
Seminars
-4th Western Food Festival, Industry Forum reviewing food
supply for international events including the Beijing Olympics
and World Expo 2010, Shanghai.
-Food Safety & Nutrition Seminar, a hot topic in China
and organized by the Shanghai Food & Drug Administration
-Import Regulations and Procedures, by the Shanghai Import
Food Enterprises Association
-Food and Beverage Purchasing, with Key Note presentation
by Wal-Mart.
-Australian Wine, presented by Jeremy Oliver, Australia’s
foremost wine commentator.
The
Main Event
The motivation behind the many activities at FHC China 2007
is the exhibition itself. Featuring imported fresh, frozen,
chilled and preserved fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, poultry,
dairy, bakery products, snack foods, confectionery, beers,
wines and spirits. On hospitality, the show includes food
service equipment and an exciting array of chinaware &
tabletop supplies. While the HOSTEC marketplace is a specialist
zone for suppliers of retail and hospitality IT. 98% of all
exhibitors this year are international companies or agents
of foreign suppliers ensuring the high quality of products
that can be seen at the show.
FHC
China 2007 is open to trade only visitors and buyers
are welcomed from food wholesale and retail trade,
hotels, restaurants, institutional caterers, importers
and distributors.
